HopCat is committed to clean water as it is the key ingredient in great beer. Since opening the first HopCat in 2008, we have supported Michigan Craft Brewers while pioneering programs to reduce wastewater; compost all of our spent grain and other organics; and recycle the majority of our remaining waste stream. In 2016, we launched Oil Spiller Russian Imperial Stout as part of our efforts to draw attention to the danger Line 5 presents to the Great Lakes. We donate a portion of each sale of this limited release beer to groups working to shut down Line 5 and will continue to give this message a platform until this threat is no longer an issue.” —Mark Sellers, Founder and owner of BarFly Ventures
