SUMMARY:Wisconsin Climate March - Madison
DESCRIPTION:We’ll march for solar power\, clean energy jobs\, science\, environmental justice\, conservation\, and democracy. The Wisconsin Climate March is part of a national wave of clean energy action\, capping off Climate Week (Sep 21–28) with a powerful call for a safe\, healthy\, and just future. We have the technology and solutions. Now we need the political will to make clean energy accessible to all! \nThe Wisconsin Climate March is a call to action to take our future back into our hands. \nFloods\, droughts\, storms\, and heatwaves are getting worse. Food and energy costs are going up while a few billionaires profit and prop up the industries that harm people and pollute our lands\, air\, and waters. \nIndigenous leaders from the Amazon to the Pacific have spoken out: our future is at stake. To solve the climate crisis\, the answer is us — the people. This September\, we will come together to draw the line against injustice\, pollution\, and violence – and for a future built on peace\, clean energy\, and fairness. \nScience itself is under attack.  Education and research in Wisconsin are threatened by funding cuts and attacks on academic freedom.  We call on our leaders to defend science funding and the right of a teacher to instruct and the right of a student to learn in an academic setting unhampered by outside interference. \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Modernizing the Great Lakes Compact's Administrative Standards to be Resilient
DESCRIPTION:The Great Lakes Compact is a Congressionally-approved agreement between eight U.S. states – Illinois\, Indiana\, Michigan\, Minnesota\, New York\, Ohio\, Pennsylvania\, and Wisconsin – to protect\, conserve\, and manage Great Lakes waters. Many of the guidances and regulations were written before today’s mounting pressures from climate change\, water scarcity\, and political uncertainty. Moreover\, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions in Loper and other cases have changed governing administrative law principles. \nJoin this ELPC Thinks webinar to explore modernizing the Compact’s administrative standards to make it more resilient and to better “future‑proof” this landmark agreement. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/6717748775469/WN_uhmzbfNvQG6OoA9uKXHPLA?utm_campaign=elpcthinks&sourceid=1049039&emci=913d78f4-3c2c-f111-9a48-000d3a14b640&emdi=697e6669-d235-f111-8ef2-000d3a14b640&ceid=1320814#/registration

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Real Energy Emergency
DESCRIPTION: Join the Great Lakes Business Network for an educational webinar examining two competing “energy emergency” narratives. Since January 2025\, the federal government has declared an energy emergency\, citing national security\, grid reliability\, and rising energy costs—while using that authority to expand fossil fuel production and hinder clean energy progress. \nAt the same time\, a different crisis has been unfolding: the systematic dismantling of clean energy policies\, investments\, and market momentum over the past 15 months.  \nHear from leading policymakers on how they are pushing back against federal actions and advancing solutions for a cleaner energy future. Local policy experts and economic analysts will share real-world insights on what these changes mean for businesses\, jobs\, and energy affordability. We will conclude by diving into the benefits of the clean energy industry and its proven ability to meet our needs\, offering an optimistic view of the path toward a more resilient\, cost-effective\, and sustainable energy system. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_GPftxT3DSUqhNcxOFQkFLg#/registration \n
